Booking the ARTS-Studio

Our smaller studio comprising of studio and teaching rooms - Underground Studios - is located in the basement at Applestone Music & Sound, Torquay. This comprises of three interlinked rooms and is designed for solo artists, duo's and trio's.

Our larger studio - Waterleat Studios - is located at the Waterleat Music Complex within Paignton Community College, Paignton, South Devon. This can handle much larger groups from 4-peice bands through to soul bands and even full choirs

Both studios consists of a purpose built control room, drum room & practice rooms. Waterleat Studio also comprises of several large rooms and a large hall. The Waterleat Studio Control Room houses our SoundCraft Spirit 32/8/2 mixing desk, plus a wide range of outboard equipment, PC's operating Logic Audio, Cubase SX & REASON 2.5 as well as a wide range of microphones and ancillary gear. The Underground Studios Control Room houses a Beringer 24/8/2 mixing desk, several digital mixing desks, outboard effects, amplifiers, instruments and other ancillary equipment plus a computer system running Cubase. Each site also houses a range of digital equipment, microphones, effects and ancillary gear.

Within the Waterleat studio complex we have the capability of recording a 5/6 piece band either individually or as a full band.

How to Book the ARTS Studio

• Online Booking Form
• Allow at least 10 days between the time you make your first enquiry and the day you are booking
• If you are booking a full band in, please book for a Saturday.
• To arrange your booking, either use the online booking form or call Dave Collerton on 01803 297297 (10.00 - 5.00) to discuss your needs for the session and to arrange a day for your recording.
• We  will email you a copy of our booking form which should be completed and returned with full payment prior to your visit to the studio
• If you don't hear back  from us within a few days, call Dave Collerton on 01803 297297
  

SOUND ADVICE

Do not under-estimate the time needed to complete a single track. We recommend that for 4/5 piece bands that you do not attempt more than 3 full tracks in a single session.  Better to get 3 great tracks than 4 or 5 reasonable tracks.

It takes time to master a track  to its final demo state. You may be able to play it in 3 minutes but by the time you've done half a dozen takes (to your satidfaction) and then  mastered it, it will probably have take a couple of hours.

Studio Engineers

Our Studio Manager is Shaun Myers - one of the most talented students ARTS has ever produced. Shaun has considerable hands on experience of using and teaching REASON, CUBASE, Studio concepts, digital and analogue recording. Shaun is supported by Dave Collerton, Head of Music Studies at ARTS-Studios and Neil Reed, musician, composer and keyboard player with signed indie band IKO. Neil supports our Music Composition add-on to our 21 lesson REASON Music Production Workshop.
