REASON Music Production

Applestone Recording & Training Studios (ARTS-Studio) delivers REASON Music Production Workshops and REASON V3 Intermediate / Advanced Workshops from our Underground Studios at Applestone Music & Sound in Torquay.

ARTS also specialise in music tuition - click to view our music tuition page

With an emphasis on learning about different aspects of music, rather than simply learning Reason, students will cover a variety of activities including:

  • Improvising and recording ideas; building rhythm, bass, harmony and melody tracks
  • Programming patterns and relating these to musical bars and beats
  • Exploring sounds and textures, using a range of supplied sounds
  • Creating form and structure
  • "Musical" editing to create contrast and variation
  • Creative work with loops
  • Using effects for composing and production
  • Shaping sound using the controls on realistic synths, samplers and other devices
  • An introduction to mixing - balance, EQ, panning
  • Automating mixer and device parameters for additional production ideas
  • Using technology to develop musical concepts and ideas
  • Applying techniques in a creative context through project work
  • Compiling a CD portfolio of coursework

Teaching Music with Reason is a stand-alone, entry-level classroom package that focuses on learning about and making music using technology. Principally designed for use in music classes, the package includes material for 21 complete lessons and turns each individual classroom computer into a self-contained, easy-to-use music studio, with a realistic rack of equipment that you could expect to see in any professional studio set-up.

EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE
All trainees on the REASON TEACHING PROGRAM will have full access to our REASON V3 software and to CUBASE in our teaching studio. This means that you will be able to put into practice what you learn and to integrate your REASON compositions with live audio and real instruments.
