The Recording Studio 

Applestone Recording & Training Studios (ARTS-Studio) provides musical instrument tuition and competitve studio recording facilities, Jam Clubs and Performance Workshops. Our studio comprising of studio and teaching rooms - Underground Studios - is located in the basement at Applestone Music & Sound, Torquay. This comprises of three interlinked rooms and is designed for solo artists, duo's and trio's, but also for 4/5 piece bands. 

The studio consists of a purpose built control room, drum room & practice rooms. The Underground Studios Control Room houses a Beringer 24/8/2 mixing desk, several digital mixing desks, outboard effects, amplifiers, instruments and other ancillary equipment plus a computer system running Cubase.

ARTS can provide a full studio service from recording through to mixdown. Prices are competitive and flexible starting at just £85 plus media costs for a 6 - hour recording day (9am through to 3pm). Underground Studios is available for booking Monday through Saturday. All bookings are by appointment only and payable in advance of recording.  How to Book the ARTS Studio

Allow at least 10 days between the time you make your first enquiry and the day you are booking
If you are booking a full band in, please book for a Saturday.
To arrange your booking, either use the online booking form or call Dave Collerton on 01803 297297 (10.00 - 5.00) to discuss your needs for the session and to arrange a day for your recording.
We  will email you a copy of our booking form which should be completed and returned with full payment prior to your visit to the studio

Studio Booking & Pricing

Applestone Recording & Training Studios(ARTS) pricing is based on the number of performers. Above a trio we generally need to involve both a lead and support engineer in order to provide an effective service to our clients.

Single Performer - £85 plus media costs
Duo - £95 plus media costs
Trio - £110 plus media costs
4 Piece Band - £135 plus media costs
We offer a 10% discount for registered students and to musicians under 18 at time of booking.

We can handle larger format bands by arrangement. The cost per additional band member is £15 per day. For example, a 6-piece soul band would be charged at £165 plus media costs.

SOUND ADVICE
Do not underestimate the time needed to complete a single track. We recommend that for 4/5 piece bands that you do not attempt more than 3 full tracks in a single session.  Better to get 3 great tracks than 4 or 5 reasonable tracks.

It takes time to master a track  to its final demo state. You may be able to play it in 3 minutes but by the time you've done half a dozen takes (to your satidfaction) and then  mastered it, it will probably have take a couple of hours.
